My hubby likes to help me come up with recipe ideas, and when he suggested pinwheels with a chive and onion cream cheese, I knew the cream cheese needed to be made from scratch so I could keep it lower in fat! So I went to my spice drawer and got to work!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 8 ounces 1/3 less fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced onion 
  • 1 teaspoon dried or fresh chives

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a small mixing bowl and stir until combined and smooth

How to use:

  • Use as a dip for crackers and pretzels
  • Use as a spread for pinwheels, sandwiches, and wraps
  • Form into a ball and add to a charcuterie board 
  • Stir into mashed potatoes  
  • Spread on celery and sliced bell peppers for an easy low carb snack
